Mechanical properties of bamboo

Ok everyone, here are the mechanical properties of bamboo for the purists and engineering types. Essentially, the Young's Modulus (measure of stiffness) is midrange. This is great for molding form and elastic movement before returning to its original shape. This is a positive characterisic as a bamboo structure will be able to move according to the forces applied, but also maintain form and shape.
Bamboo is very light for its compressive abilities. This means that lightweight bracing may be enough to support the structure. With the use of other lightwieght matierals such as tensile materials and ETFE technologies.
