Arch Geometry

Above are some studies for the geometry of the gable for the large hall. The gable end will be 20 metres with and 5 metres high at the apex. The bamboo trusses will need to span this length whilst maintaining shape and resisting the loads.

As it turns out, it is very difficult to use one singular element to create an arch. in fact, it is impossible due to the fact that a circle or parabola will have different lengths between linear intervals. I will have to use clusters of bamboo in long lengths to achieve the span. As I have previously shown, these can be clasped together in order to act as one singular element.
